PLM Honors 20 Years of Revolutionary Spirit-filled Love

"Black Love" is an authentic, revolutionary, and pure expression of Ma’at, embodying complementarity and rooted in Black heritage, culture, and consciousness. It transcends mere relationships between Black individuals, requiring a deep understanding and commitment to a higher purpose beyond personal desires.

Every year on March 16th, we celebrate that pure expression of Ma'at as embodied by the relationship between Baba Imhotep and Mama Ife Fatiu. This year, we elevate their anniversary as we're celebrating 20 years of black love and exemplary leadership in a complementary union. Many of us are familiar with the day-to-day challenges needed to maintain a thriving relationship. Imagine coupling those challenges with the demands of leading and organizing people hurt and traumatized by the ma'afa (white terrorism). Their ability to understand each other, love each other and support each other is the model for all Fatius. In honor of Baba Imhotep and Mama Ife’s 20th year anniversary, they exchanged engraved silver bracelets, a PLM tradition when couples join together. To honor this momentous occasion, two PLM couples, Baba Adisa & Mama Tiombe and Baba Tamiim & Mama Ngina, also exchanged engraved bracelets. This unifying act is the foundation of what PLM represents, the unity of families in order to produce communities and nations. Bracelets were exchanged at our Akoma party, a private ceremony where other black couples were invited to share in the celebration of love and communion.
