Manufactured Hatred, Real Money: The SPLC Has Been Federally Indicted

The Southern Poverty Law Center — the organization that built a multi-million dollar empire telling America who the "haters" are — has been federally indicted on charges of wire fraud, bank fraud, and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

Blog Summarized: The DOJ has indicted the SPLC on federal fraud charges alleging it secretly paid over $3 million in donor funds to KKK members, Aryan Nations, and other domestic terrorist groups while publicly branding Black liberation organizations as hate groups.

The Scheme: Paying the Enemy to Play the Enemy

According to a Department of Justice press release and reporting by NPR, between 2014 and 2023, the SPLC secretly funneled more than $3 million in donated funds to individuals affiliated with domestic terrorist groups — including the Ku Klux Klan, Aryan Nations, and the National Socialist Party of America.

To hide the payments, the SPLC created bank accounts for fictitious entities — "Fox Photography" and "Rare Books Warehouse" — shell operations designed to obscure where donor money was actually going.

The SPLC claims this was an "informant program" that saved lives. The federal government says it was fraud.

What PLM Has Always Known About the Gatekeepers

This is not a surprise to those who have been paying attention.

The SPLC has long served as the arbiter of who gets labeled a "hate group" in America — and that power has consistently been wielded against Black liberation movements. Organizations fighting for African self-determination, community defense, and economic sovereignty have found themselves on SPLC watchlists while the organization reportedly maintained financial relationships with the very domestic terrorists it claimed to monitor.

𓅃 The same organization labeled Black liberation groups as "hate groups"

𓅃 The same organization raised hundreds of millions in donations off manufactured fear

𓅃 The same organization is now charged with secretly funding the machinery of white supremacy

This is what new-age domestic colonialism looks like — sophisticated, institutionalized, and dressed in the language of civil rights.

PLM has always taught: confusion leaves when one acquires knowledge. The mask is off.

What This Moment Demands of Us

We do not look to the DOJ as purveyors of justice — the system is the system. The charge to restore justice and morality for our people is our responsibility!

What this moment demands is clarity. The institutions we were told were "on our side" were never built for our liberation. They were built to manage our resistance, monetize our suffering, and keep us looking to the wrong places for salvation.

𓅃 Know your history — gatekeeping organizations have always existed to contain Black power

𓅃 Know your organizations — PLM’s work is not funded by manufactured conflict

𓅃 Know your role — we are the authors of ourstory, and we do not outsource that to anyone

Race 1st — Always.

May the ancestors continue to bless and guide PLM.
