We have exciting news! For our first National Race 1st Convention, PLM has confirmed A series of elders who are experienced and time tested regarding the methods and best practices for obtaining the Race 1st agenda.
For those curious, the Race 1st agenda is to elevate Black consciousness. Black consciousness is elevated by focusing on the thought and behavior which places the socioeconomic, political, spiritual well-being and overall material survival of the Black race first.
For those curious to know what this looks like on a day-to-day basis I'll share a story which happened very recently. I took a flight across the country to visit family. Unfortunately, I arrived late at the airport and missed my flight. While at the counter, tired, a bit stressed and worried about canceling scheduled activities, I was aided by a Black attendant who sympathized with my great need to visit my family. Normally for this airline, and my situation, they would need to charge a fee of $100 - $300 to reschedule the flight. However, the Black employee rescheduled my flight free of charge. Once I successfully landed, I scrolled through Facebook and noticed a few friends made post regarding raising their sons. I called some and texted others to see if there was any way I can support their family. As a Fatiu man, I understand I bring a certain type of energy which influences and cultivates manliness in boys which could be of great use to my loved ones. Lastly, I attended an African-centered event and volunteered my services because the organization who hosted the event also has the best interests of our people at heart.
This is the thought and behavior which works to elevate Black consciousness. The cycle of doing what is needed to affirm the essence of Black unification. It doesn't require much. It requires a genuine desire, endurance (consistency), patience and sacrifice - DEPS (from UrBan Philosophy). It's about assessing where our people are at, bridging gaps, making connections and affirming with others the beauty, power and necessity of our history, culture and experiences. These have to be intentional and we must have faith that our intentionality will produce results even if we don't immediately see it. This intentionality is seen in our efforts as we host the National Race 1st Convention.
In addition to hosting esteemed elders, PLM plans to have other activities to kick off this national effort in elevating Black power through elevating Black consciousness. We offer a literary libration to all those ancestors who were instrumental in organizing the Pan African Conference and the Pan-African Congresses. We intend for the National Race 1st Convention to be the modern adaptation of what those historic gatherings were, and we desire all serious-minded organizations or individuals to be in attendance!
