PLM Feeds 200+ in Baltimore | Umoja Karamu

The Umoja-Karamu Community Dinner Giveaway on November 23, 2025, was a powerful response to the loss of SNAP benefits and the growing food insecurity affecting families across Baltimore. Hosted at Baltimore Unity Hall, the event offered free wholesome sit-down meals, take-home dinners, and a welcoming space for neighbors to eat, connect, and support one another. In times of political uncertainty, gatherings like this remind us that community remains our strongest safety net.

Umoja Karamu, founded in 1971 by psychologist and cultural advocate Edward Sims, Jr., is a cultural holiday created to strengthen African-American family unity and reconnect Black families with their historical journey.

Special thanks to all contributors and supporting businesses whose generosity makes this possible: Caribbean Finger’Lick, Platta King, Diasporan Soul (TNAT), Land of Kush, Chef Ty, Kaylah’s Jumping Out The Pot, Sumthing Kool Snowballs, Midnite Confections Cupcakery, and Mr. Charles. Their commitment to feeding families and uplifting the community reflects the true spirit of Umoja—unity and collective care. With the support of these businesses, along with our consistent support from PLM advocates.
