Created in 1971 by Dr. Edward Sims, Jr. the Umoja Karamu is an annual event which stresses the necessity and value of family. Join PLM as we cultivate and celebrate Black families through fun, facts and feel good moments.

About the event
The Pan African Liberation Movement (PLM) and Kimoyo Shule Africana announce their third annual Umoja Karamu (“Unity Feast”) Celebration, to be held on the afternoon of Sunday, November 24 from 3pm – 7pm at the Baltimore Unity Hall; 1505 Eutaw Place, Baltimore, MD 21217.
This event is FREE for PLM supporters and Black families and commemorates Black familyhood. This will be an afternoon of family-centered fun for the entire family with collaborative games, face painting, photo-ops, drumming and dancing, vendors and more!

The five colors used in the ceremony are:
Black: Represents Black families before slavery
White: Symbolizes the scattering of Black families during slavery
